As OTT Mountainbike is simply a group of local friends based in Hertfordshire currently we are not covered by any third party insurance. We are however Affiliate Members of CTC so if you wish to take advantage of the membership benefits such as personal insurance you will need to join the CTC for a small fee which we can arrange at a reduced rate.
By the nature of the sport mountainbiking does have a degree of RISK and we ask all those who join us for any of our weekend or midweek rides to take this into consideration .
OTT Mountainbike and any of its riders cannot accept liability or responsibility for any incidents which may occur during our rides and we suggest that those who are new to the sport ensure they are prepared for the inevitable, puncture, mechanical, rain shower and odd tumble or two (hence OTT,over the top).
It is recommended that your mobile phone has an entry titled "EMERGENCY" with a contact number which we hope we will never have to use - There is an OTT mobile number which all new riders are given in case they get separated from the group (although this should never happen) - A check list can be found below listing our recommended kitbag for newbie riders.
Some of the longer rides (30 miles plus) are not suited to a "first time out" - so if you do decide to come along please take into account the suggestions from regular riders about kit-food-water etc - We don't want you expiring 30 miles from home - unless you have a good level of fitness it's best to build up to this distance.If you join us for a NIGHT RIDE we ask that you join a Sunday ride with OTT first, for similar reasons.
We have avoided a long legal document in the hope that you will take the time to read the above and accept that we don't conduct a "Risk Assessment" before each ride and we expect riders to be responsbile for the fun that is "Mountainbiking"
We also ask that riders under 18 are accompanied by a parent or guardian/relative for the above reasons.
CTC Affiliation - It is necessary to ask all riders to provide us with some basic information and complete the form below just so we have a record of who is with us when riding - if we haven't had your rides form we can't let you join in -sorry!
If you are coming along! - Then all we ask is that:
a) you complete the form below (only if you intend coming along)
b) post that you're coming on our board (please dont just turn up) and
c) dont forget your helmet.
